Free speech and artificial intelligence
Spanish writer Jorge Carrión, author of the novel Membrana, offers an online lecture on the possible effects of new technologies on freedom of expression, considering that the relationship between literature and new technologies, algorithms and non-human writing forces us to think about new ways of conceiving it and the challenge of keeping it relevant.

Spanish writer and academic residing in Barcelona. He studied at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, where he earned his bachelor's and doctoral degrees in Humanities. At the university's Barcelona School of Management (BSM-UPF), he co-directs the Master's Program in Creative Writing with José María Micó. He is the author of the fiction trilogy *The Dead*, *The Orphans*, and *The Tourists* (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2014-2015). He has written comic book scripts and curated exhibitions such as *The Sebald Variations*, *All the Libraries of Tomorrow*, and *Koldo Mitxelena Kulturunea*. His recent works include *Membrane* (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2021) and *All Museums Are Works of Science Fiction* (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2022).

Graduate in Information Sciences and Techniques, she is a writer, cultural journalist, and television producer. She has served as news director at Canal 22 and deputy director of information at TV UNAM. She has contributed to El Ángel, the cultural supplement of the newspaper Reforma, La Jornada Cultural, Casa del Tiempo magazine, and Revista de la Universidad de México. She currently publishes in the cultural supplement Laberinto of the newspaper Milenio. She has received the National Journalism Prize from the Club de Periodistas three times for her work on Raquel Tibol, una vida en el arte (documentary, 2005), Las respuestas de la ciencia (series, 2009), and Observatorio 2012 (series, 2011). Some of her publications include Massimo Bontempelli. He earned his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh in 1998 under the supervision of Professor Alan Bundy. He has been affiliated with Tecnológico de Monterrey since 1985 and has served as a Full Research Professor since 2010. He is a member of several distinguished scientific organizations, including Mexico’s National System of Researchers (Level III), the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the Mexican Academy of Computing, and the Academic Technical Committee of CONACYT’s Thematic Network on Applied Computational Intelligence. His current research focuses on the development of novel machine learning models and their application to cybersecurity challenges. Throughout his career, he has chaired the technical program committees of numerous international conferences and workshops. He is the former President of the Mexican Society for Artificial Intelligence (SMIA), the former President of CONACYT’s Thematic Network on Information and Communication Technologies, and former Secretary of the Mexican Academy of Computing. At Tecnológico de Monterrey, he leads the Advanced Artificial Intelligence Research Group.

Natalia Velazco is a data analyst and cultural manager whose work bridges technology, the arts, and community collaboration to develop agile and creative solutions through interdisciplinary practice. Her technical expertise includes programming, statistical modeling, text analysis, and data visualization. She has co-presented her research at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and at the Euro-Mediterranean Conference organized by the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage. She currently serves as a Data Analyst for the Chicago Early Childhood Integrated Data System (CECIDS) at Northern Illinois University, where she works on data-driven initiatives that support early childhood education and research.

Saiph Savage, dedicado a la aplicación de tecnología para abordar desafíos sociales y promover el bienestar comunitario, mediante el procesamiento y análisis de datos realizado en proyectos para el desarrollo de propuestas que aprovechan el potencial de la inteligencia artificial para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas y fomentar la participación ciudadana. Actualmente es profesor del Departamento de Ingeniería en Computación de la Facultad de Ingeniería, donde imparte asignaturas clave como: Diseño de Sistemas Digitales y Estructura, y Programación de Computadoras.

Ha conducido diversas series televisivas y radiofónicas. Columnista y consejero editorial del suplemento cultural El Ángel del periódico Reforma. Sus críticas y ensayos han sido publicados en las revistas Letras Libres, Pauta, Viceversa y Vuelta, así como en los diarios El Norte, Reforma y Unomásuno. El Pen Club mexicano le otorgó el Premio Gottlieb de Ópera Prima por Tríptico (tres actos en una ópera). En 1994 la revista Proceso lo nombró Crítico del año.

Ingeniero en Computación por la Facultad de Ingeniería de la UNAM. Formó parte del Laboratorio de Biorobótica del Posgrado de la Facultad de Ingeniería en el área de gráficos por computadora donde participó en la creación de simuladores virtuales de hidroeléctricas para el gobierno federal. Ha participado en proyectos institucionales de la UNAM y colaborado en proyectos de emprendimiento para la creación de estudios de desarrollo de aplicaciones gráficas con fines de entretenimiento, mercadotécnica y entrenamiento. Asesor Académico de la agrupación estudiantil Sociedad de Desarrollo en Videojuegos (SODVI) de la Facultad de Ingeniería y responsable académico del diplomado de "Diseño y programación de videojuegos". Desde el año 2018 tienen el nombramiento de Coordinador de la carrera de Ingeniería en Computación donde estuvo a cargo del proceso de acreditación ante el CACEI (marco institucional 2018 y 2023) y el sello europeo de ANECA (EUR-ACE, 2022).
