A graduate of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature's Higher School of Music, he specialized in orchestral conducting with Enrique Diemecke, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, and Alain Paris. He has taken advanced courses with the Ensemble Diabolus in Musica in France, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, and the Ensemble Recherche in Germany. He has conducted the Sonora Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Palace of Fine Arts, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Mexico City Philharmonic, the National Polytechnic Institute Symphony Orchestra, the Cepromusic Ensemble, and the Eduardo Mata University Youth Orchestra. He has performed in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Tucson, and other cities in the United States. In 2006, he founded the contemporary music chamber ensemble Tempus Fugit, with which he has produced numerous chamber opera and contemporary opera works.

Fundado en 1982 y conformado por los músicos Saúl Bitrán (violín), Arón Bitrán (violín), Álvaro Bitrán (violonchelo) y Javier Montiel (viola y violín). El Cuarteto Latinoamericano ha destacado por difundir la producción musical de los grandes compositores latinoamericanos como: Villa-Lobos, Revueltas, Ginastera y Piazzolla, entre otros. El interés y la labor de difusión por la obra de estos maestros, les ha permitido presentarse en lugares como el Teatro Scala de Milán, el Carnegie Hall de Nueva York, el Concertgebouw de Ámsterdam, y diversas salas de concierto en Israel, Japón y Nueva Zelanda. La labor del cuarteto ha sido galardonada en dos ocasiones con el Grammy Latino: en 2012 por su álbum Brasileiro, works of Francisco Mignone y en 2016 por El Hilo Invisible. Cuenta con más de cuarenta discos grabados en los que se abarca con profusión la diversidad músical de América.

Es concertino de la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México y profesor de violín en la Universidad Panamericana, se desempeña como violinista, director y compositor. De 2010 a 2014 enseñó violín y dirigió la orquesta del Instituto Nacional de Música de Afganistán. Dirigió para el presidente Hamid Karzai y el Carnegie Hall. Ha sido solista con orquestas en México, Argentina, Filipinas y Estados Unidos. Ha colaborado con reconocidos intérpretes de música folclórica en diversos países como China, Birmania, India, Turquía, Egipto y España. En México se ha presentado como solista en diversos festivales. Sus composiciones han sido interpretadas en más de cien ocasiones y recibió el Premio Bearns de la Universidad de Columbia. Como director dirigió orquestas juveniles en Estados Unidos, Filipinas, México, Qatar y Zimbabue.

The Academy of Early Music (AMA) was founded in 2017 with the aim of complementing the academic and artistic training of young performers of 17th- and 18th-century music at a professional level. This project of the UNAM Music School, the first of its kind created by a higher education institution in Mexico, seeks to contribute to the efforts to research and disseminate early music, with an emphasis on the viceregal repertoire of Spanish America. Among the numerous conductors who have collaborated with the AMA, recent seasons have featured Josep Cabré, Bruno Procopio, Ethel González-Horta, and Aarón Zapico, to name a few. Several musical instructors specializing in Baroque music oversee the learning and technical and stylistic development of the scholarship recipients. Eunice Padilla assumed the artistic direction starting in 2021. The AMA has performed at the Nezahualcóyotl Hall, the Simón Bolívar Amphitheater, the University Book House, Casa del Lago and other venues of the UNAM, as well as other stages in Mexico.

Es fundador y director artístico del Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD), con el que ha interpretado obras del Renacimiento, Barroco, Clasicismo temprano y siglo XX. Sus presentaciones han sido descritas como dramáticas y vibrantes. Bajo su dirección, BCSD ha recibido reconocimiento internacional y premios como el Laurette Goldberg (2023) y el Louis Botto (2020). Ha dirigido en festivales de México, Bolivia y Alemania, y colaborado con ensambles como Juilliard415, Seraphic Fire y la Sociedad Handel+Haydn. Es doctor en musicología y miembro de Kingston Beat All-Stars, banda dedicada a la música urbana jamaiquina.
